The Airpods Max 1st Generation with USB-C was released on 20 September 2024 as a minor refresh of the original 2020 AirPods Max.
Still classed as first-generation (Apple did not call it AirPods Max 2)
Key changes:
*Lightning port replaced with USB-C
*Five new colours: Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Purple and Orange
*Same H1 chip, active noise cancellation, spatial audio and battery life as the original model
*Launch price remained $549
*Widely seen as a small update after almost four years with no hardware changes
