Apple Pencil Pro

Launched alongside the M4 iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air, the Apple Pencil Pro replaced the 2nd generation as Apple's top-tier Pencil at the same $129 price point. It looks almost identical to its predecessor, magnetic charging and pairing on the side of the iPad, pressure and tilt sensitivity, double-tap, all carried over, but only works with that year's new iPads, since the magnets and charging coil inside had to be repositioned to make room for the iPad's new landscape-facing camera.

Two genuinely new features set it apart. 

A pressure sensor built into the barrel lets you squeeze the Pencil to instantly bring up a tool palette for switching colours, brush shapes or line weights, without reaching for an on-screen menu. A small gyroscope also enables "barrel roll", so simply rotating the Pencil in your hand changes the angle of a brush or pen tool on screen, mimicking how tilting a real brush changes the mark it makes. A built-in haptic engine gives a light tap of feedback whenever you squeeze, double-tap, or snap a shape into place, so those gestures feel more deliberate.

It's also the first Apple Pencil to support Find My, meaning it shows up in the Find My app alongside your other Apple devices if it ever gets lost down the side of a sofa.
