Apple Watch Ultra 4

The Apple Watch Ultra 4 introduced a redesigned Health Sensing System that reads heart rate every five seconds and collects heart rate variability data up to 24 times more often than before, feeding a new Readiness score that judges how recovered you are each morning.

Battery life took a real step up too, from 42 hours on the Ultra 3 to 50 hours of normal use, extending the Ultra's lead as the Apple Watch you can leave off the charger longest.

Outwardly nothing changed. The 49mm titanium case is the same shape Apple has used since the first Ultra in 2022, still in natural and black titanium, with the same 3,000 nit always-on display, dual-frequency GPS, 100 metre water resistance and diving to 40 metres. A thinner case had been widely rumoured and did not arrive.

The new S11 chip, which Apple called its most powerful wearable chip, drives the extra sensor work and the Apple Intelligence features arriving with watchOS 27, including a more capable Siri. Satellite messaging and Emergency SOS carried over, alongside 5G and fast charging.

Three of the most-discussed rumours did not make it: blood pressure monitoring, a microLED display and Touch ID.

It was announced on 9 September 2026 with pre-orders the same day, and it reached customers on 18 September 2026 at $799.
