HomePod mini 2

The HomePod mini 2 costs $149 and comes in pink, green, blue, white and midnight. It stands 3.3 inches tall and weighs 335 grams, replacing a speaker that was $99 when it went on sale in 2020.

Sound Glow was introduced on the HomePod mini 2. The top of the speaker becomes a visual canvas that glows and pulses in time with the music, reacting to bass and treble, and it takes its colours from the album artwork. Soundscapes such as rain set off animations of their own.

An Apple S10 chip runs it, handling what Apple calls computational audio, which measures the music as it plays and adjusts the loudness and the dynamic range to suit it. Apple describes the result as rich 360-degree sound from a small footprint, whether the speaker is used on its own, as a stereo pair or across rooms.

Siri AI is not in the box. Apple says it will reach the HomePod mini 2 in a future software update, in English to begin with, and that it will recognise up to six voices in a household. It will not be available in the European Union at first.

Four of them can be paired with the new Apple TV 4K, which Apple says is the first time it has offered a four-speaker surround setup. The speakers work out where they sit in the room so the timing and levels calibrate themselves. It also serves as a home hub for smart home accessories, and as a speaker for a Mac.

The colours changed as well as the count. Pink and green are new, while the yellow and orange of the older speaker have gone, leaving white, blue and midnight carried over.

It was announced on 13 October 2026 at Apple’s ‘Welcome home’ launch, which had no keynote video. Pre-orders opened the same day in the United States and more than 23 other countries, while it is released to shops on 30 October, priced from $149.
