Notes

The iMac (M6) costs $1,499 and keeps the same body, the same 24-inch screen and the same seven colours as the model before it, with every change on the inside. There are two versions, one at $1,499 and one at $1,699, the dearer one carrying more processor and graphics cores along with four Thunderbolt ports instead of two.

Apple quotes the processor as up to 40 per cent quicker than the M4 model and the graphics as roughly twice as fast. On-device artificial intelligence work is the biggest jump, up to five times faster, helped by a second neural engine and by accelerators added to each graphics core.

Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 were introduced on this generation, replacing Wi-Fi 6E and the older Bluetooth. Storage reads and writes up to twice as quickly as before, and the Ethernet port in the power adapter went from one gigabit to 2.5, standard on the dearer model and a $30 option on the cheaper one.

Nano-texture glass, which cuts reflections, is offered on the iMac (M6) but only on the $1,699 version. The 4.5K display, the 12MP camera with Desk View and the six-speaker system all carry over unchanged, as do the colours: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver.

It was announced on 27 October 2026 by press release, the day before Apple’s ‘Pro and Tell’ event rather than at it. Pre-orders open on 28 October at 10:10am Pacific time, which is 5:10pm in the UK, while it reaches customers and Apple Stores on 6 November, priced from $1,499.
