Vision Pro

Vision Pro was Apple's first standalone spatial computing headset, controlled entirely through eye tracking, hand gestures and voice rather than any handheld controller. It launched with 256GB of storage as standard, with 512GB and 1TB options also available. The outer shell was a single piece of laminated glass curving into an aluminium frame, paired with interchangeable Light Seals and a choice of Solo Knit Band or Dual Loop Band to adjust the fit.

Two internal micro-OLED displays delivered more than 23 million pixels combined, refreshing at up to 100Hz, while an external EyeSight display used a curved lenticular OLED panel to project a blurred image of the wearer's eyes outward so people nearby could still see some expression. Power came from an external battery pack rather than anything built into the headset itself, rated for around two hours of use per charge or all-day use plugged into the mains.

Inside sat an 8-core M2 chip with a 10-core GPU, the same high-end configuration used in Apple's laptops at the time, paired with a new R1 co-processor dedicated entirely to camera, sensor and microphone input, feeding the displays within 12 milliseconds. Twelve cameras and five sensors covered hand tracking, eye tracking, room mapping and spatial photo or video capture. Reviewers generally praised the display quality and interface but consistently flagged the 600 to 650g weight and the external battery tether as its most noticeable drawbacks.
