Notes

The AirPods Pro 3 were the first AirPods with a heart rate sensor, using light shone through the ear to measure your pulse during exercise, and pairing with the Fitness app on iPhone to recognise more than 50 types of workout and estimate calories burned.

Noise cancellation improved sharply alongside it. Apple claimed the Pro 3 removed twice as much surrounding noise as the Pro 2, helped by redesigned microphones and new foam-infused ear tips that seal the ear better before any electronics get involved.

Battery life rose from six hours to eight with noise cancellation switched on, or ten hours in transparency mode, and the charging case shrank.

Live Translation arrived as the most talked-about new trick, using Apple Intelligence to translate a conversation as it happens, lowering the other person's voice and speaking the translation into your ears. It launched supporting English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish, with more promised later.

The H2 chip carried over from the previous generation, so the gains came from the new design and sensors rather than a faster processor.

Announced on 9 September 2025 with pre-orders the same day, they reached customers on 19 September 2025 at $249, the same price AirPods Pro have carried since 2019.
