Notes
The Apple TV 4K (4th generation) costs $299 and comes in one version only, a 128GB box with a Gigabit Ethernet socket. The remote in the box is the new Siri Remote, which can also be bought on its own for $59.
An A19 chip runs it, which Apple puts at up to 50 per cent faster on the processor and up to twice as fast on graphics as the generation before. A dedicated decoder for the AV1 video format went in with it, which Apple says allows better quality streaming on less bandwidth.
Three far-field microphones were built into the Apple TV 4K (4th generation), so it can be spoken to without the remote in hand. Apple says echo cancellation separates a voice from whatever is already playing, and that the microphone data is processed in a protected part of the chip kept apart from the rest of the system.
Siri AI comes with it as a beta, in English to begin with, turning the search for something to watch into a full-screen conversation. Questions can be asked while a programme is playing, with answers appearing in a small overlay rather than taking over the screen. It reaches older Apple TV 4K models from the second generation onwards too, and it will not be available in the European Union at first.
Four-speaker surround sound was introduced here. Pairing it with four HomePod mini 2 speakers, or with matching front and rear pairs of those and the second-generation HomePod, gives what Apple calls its most immersive home theatre setup yet, with the speakers recognising where they sit so the timing and levels calibrate themselves.
Dolby Vision and HDR10+ are both supported, alongside Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread for the smart home. It carries on working as a home hub, and a new screen saver shuffle rotates between categories on its own.
It was announced on 13 October 2026 at Apple’s ‘Welcome home’ launch, which had no keynote video. Pre-orders opened the same day in the United States and 29 other countries, while it is released to shops on 13 November, priced from $299.
