Notes

The MacBook Air with M3 became the first Air able to drive two external displays, something buyers had asked for since the line moved to Apple silicon, though it only worked with the laptop's own lid closed. Wi-Fi also roughly doubled in speed with the move to Wi-Fi 6E.

The M3 chip brought an 8-core processor with a choice of 8 or 10 graphics cores, built on a smaller 3 nanometre process that made it both faster and more efficient than the M2. Apple claimed it ran up to 60 percent quicker than the M1 model and around 13 times faster than the old Intel-based Air. The four colours carried over unchanged, midnight, starlight, space grey and silver, with midnight gaining a new surface treatment intended to resist fingerprints, which had been a common complaint.

Everything else stayed as it was. The fanless aluminium body was identical to the M2 model, battery life remained up to 18 hours, and the machine kept its two Thunderbolt ports, MagSafe charging and headphone jack.

Prices started at $1,099 for the 13-inch and $1,299 for the 15-inch, with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage as standard.

It was announced on 4 March 2024 and reached customers on 8 March 2024.
