Notes
Officially treated as its own generation despite being a small change: the Apple Siri Remote 3rd generation was released November 4, 2022 alongside that year's new Apple TV 4K, this remote is functionally and visually identical to the 2021 redesign, same clickpad, same buttons, same layout, with the single difference being a switch from Lightning to USB-C for charging.
It sold separately for $59, unchanged from the previous price, and was backward compatible with every earlier Apple TV, including the original Apple TV HD from 2015.
One small catch at launch: unlike previous remotes, this one didn't include a charging cable in the box, Apple pointed out that USB-C cables were common enough by then that most people would already own one.
