Notes
The iPod touch 16GB (5th generation, Mid 2013) cost $229 and was the same device as the one above it with three things taken away. The camera on the back went, the flash went with it, and so did the button for the wrist strap.
Colour went too. Where the rest of the range came in six finishes, this one came with a black front and a silver back and no alternative. Losing the camera took two grams off, bringing it to 86.
Everything else stayed: the same 4-inch Retina screen, the same A5 chip, the same front camera for FaceTime, the same 40 hours of music playback. It sat $70 below the 32GB model and replaced the fourth generation iPod touch that Apple had been keeping on as the cheap option.
Apple put it out quietly on 30 May 2013 with no announcement of any kind, straight onto the online store, with the shops following the next day. It lasted thirteen months before Apple put the camera back and cut the price to $199.
