Notes

Apple sold the MacBook Pro 15-inch (2017) from $2,399, with a 15.4-inch screen, 16GB of memory and four processor cores. Storage started at 256GB and could be taken as far as 2TB, and both configurations came with separate graphics hardware alongside the processor’s own.

The processor moved up one generation of Intel’s design and the graphics hardware was replaced with a faster set. Nothing else did. The screen, the memory, the storage options, the battery, the keyboard, the Touch Bar, the ports, the speakers, the finishes and the weight were all identical to the 2016 model.

Memory stopped at 16GB on the MacBook Pro 15-inch (2017), with no option to order more. Apple had said the year before that the low-power memory it used was capped at that figure and that going higher would have cost battery life. The limit held until the 2018 model, which reached 32GB.

The screen measured 15.4 inches at 2880 by 1800, with 500 nits of brightness and wide colour. Four Thunderbolt 3 ports and a headphone jack were the connections. The battery held 76 watt-hours, rated at up to 10 hours of web browsing or video playback, and the machine came in silver and space gray at just over four pounds.

Apple replaced it on 12 July 2018, when a new 15-inch model arrived with six processor cores, 32GB of memory and True Tone, so this one was on sale for a little over thirteen months.

It was announced on 5 June 2017 at WWDC. It went on sale the same day, once Apple’s online store reopened after the keynote, priced from $2,399.
