The iPhone 18 Pro Max shares almost everything with the smaller iPhone 18 Pro this year, same A20 Pro chip, same variable aperture triple-camera system, same colour lineup and same top-end 2TB storage option, unlike some past generations where the Max got exclusive camera hardware. What sets it apart is size, stamina and price: a 6.9-inch display against the Pro's 6.3-inch, priced from $1,299, $100 above the smaller model.
That extra size buys much more battery life. Apple rates the Pro Max for up to 30 hours of video playback, noticeably ahead of the standard Pro, which this year only catches up to where last year's Pro Max sat. The larger body also allows for fuller, louder speakers, a small but consistent Max advantage across recent generations.
It launched alongside the rest of the Pro lineup, announced September 9 and going on sale today, September 18, 2026, at the first keynote led by Apple's new CEO John Ternus.
