iPhone 18 Pro

The iPhone 18 Pro's headline change is the camera. It's the first iPhone with a variable aperture main camera, letting the lens physically adjust how much light it lets in rather than relying entirely on software, a first for any iPhone. It still sits within a triple 48MP camera system, and can now shoot 4K video at 120 frames per second.

Inside is a new A20 Pro chip, Apple's first built on a 2-nanometre process, with a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU rated around 40% faster for graphics, and a neural engine Apple says doubles the AI processing power of last year's chip. A redesigned vapor chamber helps it sustain that performance for longer under heavy use, and it pairs with Apple's own C2 modem rather than a third-party one. Battery life gets a meaningful bump too, Apple says this Pro now matches what the larger 17 Pro Max managed last year.

Storage now tops out at 2TB, a first for any iPhone, and it comes in four finishes: Black, Silver, Glacier (a pale blue) and Burgundy. The Dynamic Island shrank slightly while gaining the ability to show three separate Live Activities at once, up from one. One new software feature worth flagging: a "Reference Image" system that quietly stores verification data alongside edited photos, so it's possible to confirm a photo hasn't been faked or generated by AI.

It's priced from $1,199, $100 more than the iPhone 17 Pro, announced September 9 at the first keynote led by Apple's new CEO John Ternus, and went on sale today, September 18, 2026
