Notes

The iPhone 11 cost $699, which was $50 less than the iPhone XR it replaced. A new iPhone rarely arrives cheaper than the phone before it, and this one did so while gaining a second camera and a faster chip. The 6.1-inch Liquid Retina screen carried over unchanged from the XR at 1792 by 828 pixels, still an LCD rather than OLED, and the aluminium band and glass back stayed as they were.

The back now held two cameras instead of one. Alongside the wide camera sat a new ultra wide, which fits far more into the frame without stepping backwards. Both were 12 megapixels. Night mode came with them and switched itself on when the light dropped, holding the shutter open across several frames and combining them into one picture.

The A13 Bionic chip drove the iPhone 11, the same processor fitted to the more expensive iPhone 11 Pro. Apple rated the phone at 17 hours of video playback and said it would get through a full day on one charge. The water rating was IP68, good for two metres for thirty minutes.

Six finishes were offered, purple, green, yellow, black, white and red, in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB.

It was announced on 10 September 2019 at the 'By innovation only' event in the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park, went up for pre-order on 13 September and reached shops on 20 September, priced from $699.
